Local man charged with resisting police

39-year-old also violated release conditions, say police

The Timmins Police Service arrested a Timmins resident stemming from an incident where the suspect was found to be in breach of a set of strict conditions in direct violation of court imposed conditions listed in his Release Order.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a complaint regarding a man who attended at a Spruce Street South residential address and was communicating with a female person during the early morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 21.

The responding Timmins Police officers completed an investigation into the matter and determined that such activity was in direct violation of strict conditions imposed upon him by the Provincial Court in Timmins.

The subject was actively resistant during the arrest that followed but was eventually taken into custody.

As a result, Steve Lamothe, 39 of Timmins, was taken into police custody and is charged with:
    •    two counts of fail to comply with Release Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    resist police officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the criminal charges laid against him.
