KIRKLAND LAKE - On Sept. 30, 2020, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft on Lebel Avenue in the Town of Kirkland Lake.
Police located the accused at the scene and further investigation revealed that they were in possession of drugs suspected to be opioids.
As a result, Ben Beauchamp, age 42 of Kirkland Lake, was charged with the following:
• Possession of a Schedule I Substance - opioid, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on Nov. 12, 2020.
