Kapuskasing resident charged with impaired driving in Temagami

The accused was charged after being found in the vehicle in the ditch

TEMAGAMI – On June 13, 2020 shortly after 12:30 a.m., an off duty officer stopped on Hwy 11 near Cemetery Road, in the Municipality of Temagami for a motor vehicle that was in the ditch. Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrived a short time after and located the driver inside the vehicle.

The motor vehicle was travelling southbound when it lost control and struck the ditch. Further investigation revealed that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages and was arrested. 

Ashley Boudreau, a 26-year-old resident, of the Town of Kapuskasing, is charged with: 

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),  
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC, and  
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, contrary to section 32(1) of the Liquor Licence Act.

The vehicle was towed from the scene, and impounded. The accused was released by way of an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 28, 2020, in the City of Temiskaming Shores.

The OPP reminds motorists that any amount of alcohol or drug can impair one's ability to drive. If you observe a suspected impaired driver, please call 911 or contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 and report it.
