Kapuskasing man accused of driving while impaired by drugs

KAPUSKASING - On April 12, 2020 at approximately 9 a.m., the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint involving an impaired driver in the Town of Kapuskasing.

The suspect motor vehicle was located on Riverside Drive and police investigation revealed that the driver was impaired by drugs.

Paul Labrecque, 44 years old, of Kapuskasing, Ont., has been charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing, on May 25, 2020, to answer to the charge.

The driver was served with a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Police are asking the public to call the authorities if they see someone driving after having consumed intoxicating substances.
