Kapuskasing driver charged with impaired following collision

KAPUSKASING On May 2, 2021 members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Beauvais Road in the Hamlet of Moonbeam with a possible impaired driver.

Further investigation revealed that driver of the motor vehicle was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

As a result, Cody Lane, 23 years old of Kapuskasing, was arrested and charged with:

  • Adult operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to Section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Adult operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to Section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC

The accused was released by way of an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 21, 2021 Kapuskasing.

The accused was issued a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
