Impaired charges laid after vehicles, hydro pole hit

Police have sent out a revised news release after incorrectly naming the accused

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with impaired driving-related Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the early afternoon hours of Saturday, Nov. 19 on Wilcox Street in Timmins.

A driver collided with a number of parked vehicles on Wilcox Street as well as striking an occupied vehicle and a hydro pole before coming to a complete stop.

Responding Timmins Police Service officers located the vehicle and made independent observations about the level of intoxication displayed by the driver.

Based on their observations, the driver of the passenger vehicle was arrested and taken into custody for the purposes of Intoxilyzer breath testing procedures.

As a result of the incident a 33-year-old Timmins resident has been charged with:
    •    Impaired operation of a motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Operate motor vehicle – concentration in excess of 80 mgs of alcohol per 100 mls of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was released from police custody on the strength of an Undertaking compelling her to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on Dec. 20 to address the charges.
