Police are investigating after human remains were found near Matachewan.
June 4 just after 8:30 p.m., Kirkland Lake OPP responded to a call in a remote area of Holmes Township, northeast of Matachewan.
Human remains were found in a wooded area. The identity of the person is not known at this time, according to police.
The OPP North East Region Crime Unit is investigating with the help of the Office of the Chief Coroner and a Forensic Anthropologist. The OPP Forensic Identification Service, Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit are also helping with the investigation.
Police say more information will be released as it's available.
