Homeowner confronts break and enter suspect in Moosonee

MOOSONEE – On March 28, 2021 shortly after 3:30 a.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for a break and enter on Wabun Road in the Town of Moosonee.

The investigation revealed that a perpetrator had entered into a private dwelling at which time they were confronted by the home owner and fled on foot. Police were then called and arrived moments later.

A subsequent investigation resulted in police positively identifying the perpetrator.

On April 6, 2021, Scott Nakogee, a 26-year-old resident of the Town of Moosonee, was arrested and charged with:   

  • Break, enter a place - commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),and 
  • Theft Under $5000.00, contrary to section 334(b) of the CC.  

The accused was later released with a court appearance date scheduled for May 4th 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice in the Town of Moosonee.

The Moosonee OPP would like to remind the public, to report all suspicious activity to police. Try to obtain as much information as possible while assuring your safety, and do not interfere with the crime scene.
