Highway 11 traffic complaint leads to impaired charge

COLEMAN TOWNSHIP —  On June 25, 2022, at approximately 1:11 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 11 in Coleman Township.

A vehicle had been traveling northbound and was stopped for a traffic violation. 

Further investigation revealed the driver had consumed suspected controlled substances. The driver was transported to the Temagami Detachment to conduct further tests.

As a result, Nathan Boucher, a 37-year-old resident of Orillia has been arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

The accused drivers' licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.

The accused was released by way of an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 12, 2022, in the City of Temiskaming Shores. 

The OPP reminds motorists that any amount of drug can impair one's ability to drive. If you observe a suspected impaired driver, please call 911 or contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 and report it.
