Stretch of Highway 11 closed for fatal crash near Englehart (updated)

Update at 1:30 p.m.

OPP is investigating a fatal crash north of Englehart.

The crash happened this morning (March 6) around 9:30 a.m. on Highway 11 about five kilometres north of Englehart in the Township of Chamberlain, according to Temiskaming OPP. 

One person has died as a result of the crash. 

The highway remains closed in both directions between New Liskeard and Kenogami for the investigation.

The detour for northbound traffic is to take Highway 65 West to Highway 66 to Highway 11 in Kenogami. Southbound traffic can take Highway 66 in Kenogami to Highway 65 West to Highway 11 in Temiskaming Shores.

The OPP's Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) and the Office of the Chief Coroner - Ontario Forensic Pathology Service are helping with the ongoing investigation.

A section of Highway 11 is closed because of a crash.

The highway is closed in both directions from New Liskeard to Kenogami, according to the Ministry of Transportation on Twitter just after 10 a.m. Originally the closure was reported as starting Englehart.
