Fentanyl, methamphetamine seized during Kirkland Lake drug bust

A 44-year-old faces trafficking charges as a result

KIRKLAND LAKE - On July 9, 2021, The OPP North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a search warrant at a residence on Kirkpatrick Street in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

Police seized approximately $1,430 in Canadian Currency and drugs suspected to be opioids (including fentanyl) and methamphetamine. Total street value of the seizure is estimated to be $6,120.

As a result, Mark Webber, 44 years of age of Kirkland Lake, has been charged with the following:
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) (two counts)
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)

The accused was release on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on Aug. 12, 2021.
