Fatal crash closes Highway 11 near Smooth Rock Falls (updated)

Highway 11 is closed for a fatal crash involving two transport trucks this morning. 

The collision between two commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) happened on March 17 just before 7 a.m. on Highway 11 between Smooth Rock Falls and Highway 655. That stretch of the highway is closed. The reopening time is unknown. 

Members of the Cochrane OPP, Cochrane Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended the scene of the collision.

The North East Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME), and the OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) are investigating.

This is at least the fourth fatality on Highway 11 so far this year. There have also been a number of serious crashes.
