NEWS RELEASE
TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE
******************************
The Timmins Police Service arrested a Timmins resident early this morning stemming from an incident where a vehicle was being driven in an erratic fashion in the Birch Street North area.

A Timmins Police Service officer was completing routine patrols of his assigned patrol zone when he observed a vehicle being driven erratically, causing the engine to rev unnecessarily and proceeding through an intersection controlled by a stop sign without coming to a complete stop as required.

Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, the Timmins Police Service officer activated his emergency lighting.

The driver of the vehicle proceeded to a Birch Street North address, exited the vehicle on foot and fled into the residence.

The driver was pursued on foot by the police officer, located, and arrested.

It was determined that the driver was bound by a number of strict conditions in keeping with a release order imposed upon him by the Provincial Court in Timmins earlier this year.

Based on the ensuing investigation, it was determined that the man was in fact in contravention of the conditions of the release order.

The man was arrested once the validity of the court imposed conditions was confirmed by Timmins Police dispatch personnel.

As a result, Jason True, 45 of Timmins was taken into police custody and is charged with:
    •    four counts of fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    two counts of drive under suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
    •    Disobey stop sign – fail to stop contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
    •    Fail to identify contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
    •    Unnecessary noise contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
    •    Operate motor vehicle – improper muffler contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the criminal charges laid against him.
