Edmonton driver clocked driving 118km/h in a 60 zone in Kapuskasing: OPP

The 59-year-old faces stunt driving charges as a result

KAPUSKASING – On May 3, 2021 at approximately 4:50 p.m. members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) intercepted a motor vehicle that appeared to by driving at a high rate of speed. The motor vehicle was stopped for travelling 118 kilometre per hour (km/h) in a posted 60km/h zone.  

As a result of the investigation, a 59-year-old person from Edmonton AB, was charged with: 

  • Adult race a motor vehicle - Stunt, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).    

The driver was issued a seven day Driver's Licence Suspension, his vehicle was impounded for seven days and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 21, 2021 in Kapuskasing.
