Domestic dispute call leads to impaired charge in Cochrane

On Jan. 9, 2021 at 2:58 a.m. members of the James Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute on Sixth Street in Cochrane.  

Police attended the scene and spoke to a person who was seated in the driver seat of an idling vehicle. Investigation revealed the person had consumed alcoholic beverages.

As a result of the investigation, a 49-year-old person of Cochrane was arrested and has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane in February 2021.  

The accused was issued a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
