Disturbance leads to assault charge

The Timmins Police Service has investigated a mid-morning disturbance that occurred yesterday (Jan 19) resulting in injury to a 32-year-old female person.

The Timmins Police Service responded to the occurrence where a female entered into a verbal dispute with a second female person that escalated to the point where the suspect struck the victim.

The assaultive altercation which began in a Cedar Street North building migrated outdoors and onto the street before being halted.

The responding Timmins Police officers were able to identify, locate, and arrest the female suspect a short distance from the scene.

As a result, Vanessa Wynne, 23, of Timmins has been charged with: 

  • Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remained in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against her

The victim received medical attention for the injuries she sustained during the altercation.
