Disturbance call leads to theft charge in Kirkland Lake

On July 13, 2022, frontline members from the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at a business on Government Road West in the town of Kirkland Lake.

The investigation revealed that a theft of property had occurred which led to a confrontation.

As a result, Joseph Willett, 32 years of age of Temiskaming Shores, was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Aug. 11, 2022, in Kirkland Lake.
