'Disruptive' man accused of striking officers, attempting to disarm another

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident which occurred at a Schumacher residence during the late evening hours of Friday, Jan.24.

Timmins Police Service officers responded to a complaint involving an unwanted person at a Croatia Street address. Upon arrival, they were confronted by an aggressive male person who was arrested and removed from the residence by the police. Once outside the residence, the subject engaged in loud yelling and general disruptive behavior.

Further disruptive and assaultive behavior continued once the subject was brought to the Timmins Police station where he struck two officers and attempted to disarm a third officer. A significant quantity of pre-packaged cannabis was found on his person in the course of being arrested.

As a result of the incident, Lee Eric Erickson, 21, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Cause disturbance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Resist peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Assault peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Utter threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Attempt to disarm peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to leave residence When directed contrary to the Trespass to Property Act
  • Possess cannabis for the purpose of selling contrary to the Cannabis Act

The accused was released from police custody on Jan. 25 on the strength of an undertaking compelling him to attend Provincial Court in Timmins on February 25th , 2020, to answer to the charges laid against him.
