The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service yesterday evening in the area near the intersection of Spruce Street South and Algonquin Blvd involving a person in distress.

Portions of the roadways in the immediate area were cordoned off by the responding Timmins Police officers for public safety reasons‎ up until the matter was resolved.

A male person who was engaged in irrational behaviour while on the roof of a neighbouring building was approached by Timmins Police officers specifically trained in crisis intervention. The man was taken into custody for an assessment at the Timmins and District Hospital without incident.

The Timmins Police appreciates the level of cooperation received by persons in the immediate area temporarily inconvenienced by this event.
