Complaint about music at 'intolerable level' leads to charges

A South Porcupine man has been charged with mischief and uttering threats

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal  Code offences stemming from a sequence of incidents that occurred in South Porcupine during the early morning hours of Saturday, Nov. 21.  

A complaint was received by the Timmins Police where a male subject was playing music at an intolerable level in his Bloor Avenue apartment during the early morning hours of Saturday,  Nov. 21. 

The subject of the complaint was approached by responding Timmins Police officers and eventually and reluctantly agreed to comply with city by-laws that apply to excessive noise. 

After the police left the area, the subject called the Timmins Police station by phone and uttered threats to harm the officers with a weapon. 

The subject was arrested a short while later and taken into custody by the Timmins Police  Service. 

As a result of the incidents, Jeffrey Tilleman, 46, of South Porcupine, has been charged with: 

  • Mischief – Prevent Lawful Enjoyment of Property contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Utter Threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

The accused has been released from police custody on the strength of an undertaking requiring that he attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on Dec. 23 to answer to the charges laid against him.
