Cochrane man charged with impaired

Someone had reported a possible impaired driver on Highway 11 and police located the vehicle on Highway 655

On Sept. 24, 2021, members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police received a report of a possible impaired driver on Highway 11 Westbound from Cochrane.

Officers located the vehicle described by the complainant on Highway 655 and spoke to the driver.

Further investigation revealed that the driver was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.

As a result, the driver was arrested, driver's licence suspended, and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

Scott Arnold, 25-years-old of Cochrane, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (BAC) (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on October 5, 2021 in Cochrane.
