Charges laid after weapon brandished at convenience store, say police

The 33-year-old was also charged for stealing from several parked vehicles

The Timmins Police Service has investigated a disturbance that occurred yesterday morning (March 22) at an Algonquin Boulevard convenience store. 

Based on investigation, it was determined that a 33-year-old male suspect, who is known to police, entered the convenience store and approached the store clerk while brandishing a  weapon. 

The suspect was located at the scene and arrested by the Timmins Police Service. 

Based on the ensuing investigation, it was determined that the suspect had stolen items from two separate parked vehicles earlier in the day at an Elm Street South residence and again at a Mountjoy Street South commercial building. 

As a result, Alexander Koosees, 33, of Timmins has been charged with: 

  • Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Carry a Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of  Canada 
  • 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 2 counts of Theft contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • 2 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of  Canada 

The accused remains in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing slated for today at the  Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
