Break and enter suspects nabbed following collision: OPP

Two people face charges, including possession of methamphetamine

KIRKLAND LAKE, ON - On Nov. 20, 2019, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision at a property on Highway 650 in Boston Township, Ont.

Police attended the scene and observed two motor vehicles with substantial damage. Further investigation revealed that two of the people involved in the collision, were involved in physical confrontation with the occupants of the other vehicle and had [allegedly] just been involved in a break and enter.

Three people were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released.

As a result of the investigation, two people have been charged.

Nathan Ellerton, age 25, of Thornloe, Ont., and Mederic Gelinas, age 26, of Black River-Matheson, Ont., have been charged with the following:
    •    Break and enter - commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
    •    Possession break in instruments, contrary to section 351(1)(a) of the CC,
    •    Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a), and
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

The accused were released on a Promise to Appear and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on Dec. 19, 2019.
