Assault with a weapon leads to charges in Kirkland Lake

Victim was assaulted with a piece of wood and a pellet gun was used in the altercation, say police

On Oct. 19, 2021, frontline members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault with a weapon on Hudson Bay Avenue in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

The investigation revealed that the victim was assaulted with a piece of wood and that a pellet gun was used in the altercation.

As a result, Mark Siford, 62 years-of-age, of Kirkland Lake, has been arrested and charged with the following;

  • Assault with a Weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC) (Two Counts)
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to section 88 of the CC

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 25, 2021, in Kirkland Lake.
