Arrest made in pharmacy theft investigation

The Timmins Police Service has charged a person with theft related offences stemming from an incident that occurred on Monday, Sept. 13 at an Algonquin Boulevard pharmacy in Timmins.

A Timmins Police Service officer responded to the call for service yesterday regarding a suspicious person who had attended at the pharmacy, collected over $300 worth of cosmetics and other merchandise, and fled without paying for any of the items.

Based on the investigation, the responding officer identified, locate and arrested the female suspect later that same day and took her into custody.

As a result of the incident, Jeanette Okimaw, 24 of Timmins, has been charged with:
    •    theft under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Okimaw remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against her.
