Arrest made in armed robbery investigation

19-year-old woman faces numerous charges after fleeing Algonquin Boulevard convenience store with an undisclosed amount of money, say police

The Timmins Police Service has arrested and charged a local woman with robbery related offences stemming from an early morning incident that occurred at an Algonquin Boulevard convenience store.

The incident occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 1 where [it is alleged that] the suspect entered into the store, produced a weapon and demanded money from the clerk. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Responding Timmins Police Service officers located the suspect at a Wilson Avenue address and found her to be in possession of the weapon [allegedly] used during the robbery.

The suspect was arrested and taken into police custody.

As a result of the incident, McKenna Nakogee, 19, of Timmins has been charged with:
    •    robbery with violence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    carry a concealed weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
    •    three counts of fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

She remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against her.
