Armed and dangerous person leads to emergency alert for Smooth Rock Falls

The general public in the community asked to shelter in place, lock all windows and doors

An emergency alert has been issued for Smooth Rock Falls. 

OPP is investigating an armed and dangerous person and the general public is asked to shelter in place, according to the alert.

People are advised to lock all windows and doors and avoid the east end of Smooth Rock Falls. 

The suspect in the alert is 38-year-old Lance Biamonte.

He is described as a white man with a thin build who is 5' 9". He has a goatee and dark hair. 

Around 5 p.m., James Bay OPP issued an advisory on social media about a heavy police presence just east of Fourth and Main Street in Smooth Rock Falls. The emergency alert to shelter in place was released just after 7 p.m. It's not known if the two incidents are connected.
