$400 in medical supplies, equipment stolen from facility: police

Police say 27-year-old accused tried to pawn the items

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with break and enter-related offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the early morning hours of Friday, March 18 at a Riverside Drive medical rehabilitation facility.

The suspect forced entry into the building and made off with medical supplies and equipment with an estimated value of $400.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect made an attempt to pawn the stolen items later that same day.

While on patrol, a Timmins Police officer observed the suspect on Wilson Avenue carrying some to the stolen property.

Upon being interviewed, the suspect abandoned the stolen goods and fled from the police on foot only to be arrested a short while later.

As a result of the incident, Daniel Turner, 27, of Timmins, has been charged with: 

  • Break and enter with intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Attempt to traffic in stolen goods contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.

The door of the rehabilitation facility sustained significant damage.
