$3K worth of drugs, weapons seized from Kirkland Lake residence

Suspected cocaine, opioids, and three prohibited weapons were found, according to police

On Jan. 27, 2020, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North East Region Community Street Crime Unit and members from the Kirkland Lake OPP Detachment, executed a search warrant at a residence on Duncan Avenue South in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario.

Police seized drugs suspected to be cocaine and opioids as well as three prohibited weapons including a conductive energy weapon. Total street value of the seizure is estimated to be $3,000.

As a result of the police investigation, Kristen Beauchamp, age 22, of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
  • Possession of a scheduled I substance - opioid, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA, and
  • Possession of a prohibited device (three counts), contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code (CC).

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake, on March 5, 2020.
