On Aug. 10, 2022, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into a sexual assault investigation.
As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old person from Timmins has been arrested and charged with:
- Sexual assault, contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication, contrary to section 172.1(1)(a) of the CC
The OPP will not release names in order to protect the identity of the victim.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
