$100K in drugs seized in Connaught search warrant

A search warrant executed at a Connaught residence led to weapons and drug charges.

On June 1 around 11:45 a.m., members of the Community Street Crime Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police executed a warrant on Carrigan Road.

Police say they seized a suspected amount of cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $100,000.

Three firearms were also seized during the search, according to an OPP news release.

A 50-year-old from Timmins is charged with:

  • Two counts of possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Two counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins later this month.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
