Environment Canada issues heat warning for most of southern Ontario

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for much of southern Ontario today.

The weather agency says hot and humid conditions are expected today and Thursday.

The warning says daytime temperatures will reach the high twenties to low thirties both days.

Combined with high humidity, that's expected to result in humidex values near 40 each day.

The agency says high temperatures Friday may also reach the upper twenties with humidex values again approaching 40 before cooler and less humid air arrives.

It adds that hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can cause the air quality health index to be in the high-risk category.
