Jack passed away at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday, June 17, 2019 at the age of 84.  He was born in Timmins, ON.

Dad will be remembered by many for his quick wit, his dry sense of humour, and his love of the outdoors.  He was devoted to his family and loyal to the many friends he acquired through his work with the Ministry of Natural Resources throughout Northern and Northwestern Ontario.  Jack grew up in Schumacher, Ontario, the eldest of 4 children.  He met the love of his life, Lucy, in Cochrane, Ontario and raised his family in Chapleau, Ontario.  His working life was driven by his ethics and values and his belief in wildlife conservation and land stewardship.  An avid trapper, hunter and fisherman, Jack divided his time during his retirement years between Sault Ste. Marie and the family camp on Serviss Lake.  Well-read and a great conversationalist, Jack was always happy to receive company and made sure to stay in touch with those he held dear.  He was also a survivor: he conquered Polio as a young boy, lost his father and sister at a young age, and his wife while still raising his young family.  He will be greatly missed.

Loving Dad to Shawn (Keri) of Castlegar, BC and Kelly and Kevin of Sault Ste Marie. Proud Papa Jack of Casey, Tait and Lucas Russell of Castlegar BC.  He was predeceased by his wife Lucille (nee Dinelle), his sister Mary Lou, and his brother Jim of Timmins, Ontario.  Jack is survived by his brother Bill, sister-in-law Deanna of Timmins, and sisters-in-law Margaret Noel of Montreal, Irene Boucher of New Liskeard, and Helen Mason of Cochrane.  He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends Wilma Schmidt of Chapleau and Ed (Elsie) Everley of Red Lake, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made (payable by cheque) to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, the Group Health Centre Trust Fund in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, or the Salvation Army. A Celebration of his Life will be held August 3, 2019 in Chapleau, ON. Special thanks to Dr. Leahy, Dr. Fralick and the staff of the Sault Area Hospital for the excellent care provided to our Dad. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522).
