The family announces with sorrow her unexpected passing on Wednesday June 4, 2014 at the Timmins and District Hospital, at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late Jan Madzia (1987). Loving mother of daughter Joanne (Richard) Lizotte and son James (Antonietta) Madzia of Timmins, and step-son William Madzia ofToronto. Dear grandmother of Jessica Lizotte (Christopher Robitaille), Sofia, Marina and Neva Madzia, all of Timmins. Predeceased by her parents Juarj and Sofja Mihelcic. She is survived by her sister Mary (late Vlado) Kratofil, her brother Kazimir (Vera) Mihelcic, nieces Debi (Allan) Hudson, Carmen (Kyle) Ferris, Carolina (Mike) Roy, nephew Arsen (Angela) Kratofil, great-nephew Jason (Lissa) Chase, great-nieces Ryan & Kendall Ferris, great-great-nephews Nico & Dario Kratofil and Devin Chase, all of Timmins. She is also survived by family in Croatia. Nevenka was born in Rogi, Croatia on September 16, 1927 and immigrated to Canada in 1957. She was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. Her family brought much joy to her. Nevenka loved to garden, cook, bake, sew and knit. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday June 9, 2014 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Timmins Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday June 9 from 11 am - 2 pm at Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home (705)268-4488
