CANNING, Eyvette (nee Cuming)

Posted

(1938 - 2014) - It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, Eyvette Canning, on July 15, 2014 at the Timmins and District Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Norman Canning Sr. (April 2013). Loving mother of Darla Foisy (Fuzzy) of Sault Ste. Marie, Christine Del Bel (Vic), Norman Canning Jr. and daughter-in-law Lesley Kyle, all of Timmins; cherished grandmother of Ryan Foisy (Melanie) of Kingston, Kurt Foisy and Cole Canning of Timmins; great-grandmother of Cohen Foisy of Kingston and loyal companion Tricksy. Eyvette is also survived by her brother Everett (Sonnie) Cuming (Marilynne) of Brockville, in-laws Stan and Jeannine Canning of Alamo, Nevada, Garry and Larry Canning of Timmins, Marjorie Stevens of Sudbury and Bob Stevens of Timmins. Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Eyvette was predeceased by her mother and step-father, Kathleen and Jack Mullins, her father, William Cuming, father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Helen Canning, brother-in-law Alvin Canning and nephews Leonard, Darin, Garrett and Stacey and her very special aunt Marguerite Jackson.  She will also be deeply missed by many close friends.  Eyvette was a former co-owner of Service Master of Timmins and a very generous and loving person whose thoughtfulness will never be forgotten.  The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the wonderful nurses, doctors, housekeeping and food service staff at TDH.  The care and compassion our mother received was second to none.  Allison Yee Rivard, you always put a smile on mom’s face and went that extra mile and we cannot thank you enough.  Special thanks to Dr. Larry Malo, mom’s personal physician who made home and hospital visits and held a very special place in mom’s heart.

A special thank you to James (Jimmy) Jackson, who was with us when mom passed.  His hilarious stories about the “good old days” finally made mom realize she could let go and join the “gang” in heaven. We should also thank Doris Jackson for her company, compassion, love and goodies she brought us every day - we will never forget.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 12 pm on Friday July 18 at the Lessard Stephens Funeral Home.  A reception will follow in the Lessard-Stephens Reception Centre. The family will receive friends on Friday July 18 from 10 am to 12 pm at Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home (705)268-4488.

In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations to the Timmins and District Hospital or the Timmins Humane Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.

It is not good-bye Mom, just so long for now

Love Darla, Christine and Norm Jr.
