TORONTO — Winger Michael Petrasso has re-signed with York 9 FC for the 2021 and 2022 Canadian Premier League seasons.

The 25-year-old from Woodbridge, Ont., joined the Toronto-based side in January after spending the league's inaugural  2019 season with Winnipeg's Valour FC. But injury restricted him to just 130 minutes of action spread over three matches at this summer's Island Games,

"I'm delighted that Michael has decided that this is the club for him and that he wants to continue at York 9 FC -- he wants to be here," York 9 managing consultant Angus McNab said in a statement.

"He was a pleasure to deal with as we sorted all of this and his priority is pretty simple: get back to being the best forward in this competition. Michael was hugely frustrated with his 2020 season and he's just shown all of us he wants to get back to football and improve. "

Petrasso, who has won nine caps for Canada, previously played in England for Queens Park Rangers with loan spells at Oldham, Coventry, Leyton Orient and Notts County. He also had a stint with with the Montreal Impact.
