Tahoe Canada says a worker received non-life-threatening injuries after an incident at its Timmins West mine site over the weekend.

According to the company, the incident happened June 9 at 11:16 a.m. when “a contract employee was performing a routine pressure check on a first aid oxygen cylinder when an anomaly occurred which resulted in compressed gas being released and a small fire which was quickly extinguished.”

Fire and paramedics attended the scene, and the Ministry of Labour was notified.

“The worker was transported to Timmins and District Hospital and later released,” reads the statement.

“Tahoe Canada is continuing its investigation, and assisting both the Ministry of Labour and the Timmins Fire Dept. with their ongoing investigation of the incident.”
