The Ministry of Labour is investigating an incident involving a worker injury at Kirkland Lake Gold.

Ministry spokeswoman Janet Deline said they were notified on Aug. 10 of the injury at the mining company’s Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake.

The worker was removing ore with a scoop tram (mucking) when the worker was pinned in the machine by a piece of rock.

Police and emergency services attended the scene as well as a ministry inspector on the same day. It is not known the extent of the injury to the worker.

“Our inspector issued one requirement to the employer, Kirkland Lake Gold, to provide documentation,” said Deline by email. “Our investigation is ongoing.”

The company did not respond to a media query on the status of the worker.
