The Wintergreen Fund for Conservation is pleased to announce that Alexandre Walsh is the recipient of the 2014 Student Bursary for Environmental Conservation to assist with his post-secondary studies.

Alexandre, a graduating student of Ecole secondaire catholique Thériault, was presented with the $500 bursary on June 17, 2014 and was congratulated by Wintergreen Chairman Michael Doody.

Alexandre has been accepted into the Fish and Wildlife Technician program at Fleming College in Lindsay, Ontario, for the Fall.

In his application, Alexandre states “From a very young age, my parents taught me to respect and live peacefully with nature. I learned to admire yet not underestimate the power that it has over us.”

Teachers at his school have commented that he is highly motivated and well capable of achieving his goal of pursuing a career in environmental studies.

The Student Bursary Award is given annually to a local high school student pursuing post-secondary studies relating to conservation or the environment.

The Bursary Fund was established in 1999 and is intended to assist local students who have an interest in conservation and the outdoors.
