Wildland fire south of Timmins remains active, 2 new fires in region

A pair of new wildland fires were confirmed today.

The latest update from the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry also reports that Timmins 11 remains active fire in the northeast region.

The fire was confirmed on Aug. 11 and is currently 4.6 hectares in size though the Ministry reports that it is currently under control.

The fire is located 3 km east of Kenogamassi Lake and 6 km west of Latimer Lake.

The two newly confirmed fires are:

  • North Bay 21, located approximately 1 km east of Eaglerock Lake and west of Lake Temagami. It measures 0.1 of a hectare and was confirmed early this evening.
  • North Bay 22, also confirmed early this evening, is 0.1 of a hectare and located south of Kidney Lake and approximately 6 km southeast of Highway 64.

The fire hazard is currently high through much of the region.
