The Timmins Police Service will once again celebrate National Police Week from May 10-16, 2015 with various activities, including the second annual Chief for a Day contest.

With this year’s Police Week theme of Discover Policing the contest is a way for young people to receive a closer look into the policing profession.

The contest allows one student to spend the day at the Timmins Police Service, participating in activities such as a ‘swearing in’ ceremony, a tour of police headquarters, and other police-related activities.

Last year’s contest was a success, with over 70 entries and winner Dakota Filion (age 10) experiencing a day with the Timmins Police Service.

Students from Grade 4-6 may enter the Chief for a Day contest by answering the question: “What are some qualities needed to become a police officer and why?

Entries must be between 100 and 300 words and must include the student’s name, grade, and school, as well as contact information such as email address or phone number.
