A vigil tonight is marking National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

This year marks the 33rd year since the massacre at Montreal's l'école Polytechnique de Montréal on Dec. 6, 1989, when 14 women were killed.

An indoor vigil is being held at the Timmins Native Friendship Centre, 179 Kirby Ave., from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Coffee and snacks will be served.

The City of Timmins has also lowered the flags at municipal buildings to honour the day.
