Twitter exploded over the weekend with North Bay trending because of a United Nations aircraft parked at the Jack Garland Airport.
Just more misinformation.
Conspiracy theorists speculated the plane was transporting UN soldiers to Ottawa to deal with the trucker's protest.
"I can confirm that the aircraft has been in North Bay for several weeks for a routine aircraft maintenance heavy check event at our Voyageur North Bay facility," corporate communications spokesperson Melchior Schori told BayToday.
"Voyageur provides aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for a global customer base."
The aircraft was in operation in Amman, Jordan, for more than a year and returned to Canada on Jan. 29. The company provides charters and maintenance services for the UN.
"I trust this will clarify the misleading claims," added Schori.
"The UN planes are not part of the base," confirmed Capt Leah Pierce, Public Affairs Officer, 22 Wing North Bay.
