Two new fires confirmed in the north

The Ministry of Natural Resources has confirmed two new fires in the north.

Both are deemed wildland fires by the MNR.

Wawa 14 is located on the northeastern shore of Lake Superior in Pukaskwa National Park. 

The fire is not yet under control at 0.2 of a hectare.

North Bay 15, also not under control, is 0.1 of a hectare and located on the northern shore of Lady Evelyn Lake.

The region currently has 13 other active fires as well.

Of the remaining active fires, one is being held, five are under control, and seven are being observed.

The fire hazard is low to moderate in the eastern half of the region, while areas west of Iroquios Falls, Timmins, and Serpent River are in a mostly high to extreme hazard as of Friday afternoon.
