Two arrested on unrelated outstanding warrants

One appeared in court this morning, the other scheduled for tomorrow

The Timmins Police Service has charged two local men stemming from separate incidents involving persons allegedly wanted on the strength of arrest warrants.

During the evening hours of Friday, June 14 and while completing patrols of the downtown core of Timmins, a Timmins Police Service officer observed and recognized a male person known to the police as being wanted on the strength of an arrest warrant.

Once the warrant was confirmed, the suspect was arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result of this incident, Troy Etherington, 24, of Timmins, was taken into custody. He has since been released but must attend Provincial Court in Timmins on June 18 to answer to the original charge laid against him.

In a separate incident during the evening hours of Sunday, June 16, and while completing general patrols of the downtown core of Timmins, a Timmins Police Service officer observed and recognized a male person known to the police as being wanted on the strength of an arrest warrant.

Once the warrant was confirmed, the suspect was arrested by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result of this incident, Jordan Edwards, 32, of Timmins, was taken into custody. He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the original charge laid against him.
