Two charged with impaired driving

On Aug. 17, 2019, at 9:49 p.m., members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a sobriety check on a driver of a motor vehicle on Duncan Avenue South in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence alcohol. 

As a result, Donald Cox, 60 years of age, of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was charged with the following:  

  • Operation while impaired - Alcohol, contrary to section 320.14 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14 (1)(b) of the CC.

On Aug. 18, 2019 at 2:15 a.m., members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a sobriety check on a driver of a motor vehicle on Government Road West in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Further investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence alcohol.  

As a result, Jammy Case, 30 years of age, of Markstay-Warren, Ontario, was charged with the following:  

  • Operation while impaired - Alcohol, contrary to section 320.14 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14 (1)(b) of the CC.

Both drivers were served a 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and their motor vehicles have been impounded for seven days.   

Both accused were released on a Promise to Appear and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Sept. 26, 2019, in Kirkland Lake.
