Two arrested after police respond to disturbance call

The Timmins Police responded to an early morning disturbance at a multi-unit dwelling on Birch Street South yesterday morning (Monday, July 16). Upon arrival at the scene, Timmins Police officers located two individuals of interest in regards to the disturbance.

A male party is alleged to have provided a number of false names while being interviewed by the officers. The male party, who is known to police, was arrested and found to be in possession of stolen property from a local retailer and a stolen credit card and debit card.

Sidney Wesley 31, of Timmins has been charged with:

  • Obstruct peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Personation with intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer.to the charges laid against him.

A female subject at the scene was found to be allegedly in breach of strict conditions imposed by the courts by means of a recognizance. She was arrested as well. Angel Wabano, 22, of Timmins has been charged with:

  • Fail to comply with recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was later released from custody on the strength of an Undertaking requiring that she attend Provincial Court in Timmins on Aug. 28 to answer to the charges laid against her.
