Yesterday, five new active forest fires were reported in the region, including a pair in the Timmins area.
Timmins 1 is not under control and was last reported as being 5.1 hectares. It is south of Forks and Lower Forks Lake, which is south of the city.
Timmins 2 is also not under control and is located northwest of Thor Lake, south of Timmins. It is about 2.7 hectares in size.
The three additional fires in the Northeast Region include:
- Sudbury 19, which is being held at 1.1 hectare, is north of Trout Lake, southeast of Sudbury.
- Sault Ste. Marie 6, which is located south of Ranger Lake, is currently not under control at 0.1 of a hectare
- Sault Ste. Marie 7 is also not under control at 0.3 of a hectare north of the Goulais River.
A new active fire is also listed near Chapleau and is .1 of a hectare in size.
