DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD ONTARIO NORTH EAST

There will be no races for public school trustee in the upcoming municipal election on October 27.
Nine trustees with District School Board Ontario North East have been elected by acclamation, as no one ran against them.
The following incumbents will each serve another four years: Doug Shearer (Haileybury, Cobalt-Coleman Township and Temagami), Bob Brush (Timmins), Heather Bozzer (Timmins), Peter Osterberg (Timmins), Dennis Draves (Cochrane), Tom Henderson (Englehart), Wayne Major (Hearst and Kapuskasing), Rosemary Pochopsky (Kirkland Lake), and Saunders Porter (Iroquois Falls and Matheson).
Newcomer Bruce Cutten replaces Bill Brookfield as trustee for the Dymond Township, Thornloe and New Liskeard area. Brookfield decided not to run for re-election.
Cutten is the former Principal of both Haileybury and Cobalt Public Schools, and ran uncontested in that region.
The position of First Nations Trustee (currently held by Howard Archibald) has been posted.
The selection process for this position will take place at a First Nation Advisory Committee meeting in November at the Schumacher Board Office.
