Traffic complaint leads to impaired charges for Matachewan man

His licence was suspended and the vehicle was impounded for seven days

KIRKLAND LAKE - On March 23, 2019 at 12:47 a.m., the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were called to investigate a traffic complaint on Highway 112 in Otto Township, Ontario. 

As a result of the investigation the OPP have arrested and charged Mathew Drummond-Begley, 28-years-old, of Matachewan, Ontario, with the following:  

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol or drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the CC. 

He was served a 90 day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension and the motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days. 

The accused was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 1, 2019 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario.
